Isla Corazón Community Ecotourism Project

Isla Corazon, or “Heart Island,” is a community ecotourism project that strives to educate and preserve the mangrove environment through the education of residents and visitors.

A day trip to Isla Corazón, which includes visiting the community interpretation center and exploring the island by foot and by boat, is the most popular excursion and tourist attraction offered to Casa Ceibo guests. Casa Ceibo provides ongoing support to the project, which is managed by local volunteers and the community of Puerto Portovelo through ASOMANGLAR - Tourist Guides Association Native Trail Interpretive Mangrove Isla Corazón.
